What is crystal therapy?

"I like to experience the universe as one harmonious whole. Every cell has life. Matter, too, has life; it is energy solidified."

This quote by Albert Einstein gives us a view of how we interact with our world, and specific to this blog post, crystals. Crystal therapy (aka crystal healing), involves using crystals/gemstones to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Advocates of crystal therapy believe that these crystals emit vibrations that interact with the body's energy fields to restore balance and promote well-being. Many practitioners will use the Chakra system of energy centres to choose specific stones for healing different areas of the client's life that may be out of alignment, and include other modalities such as Reiki (Reiki - Holistipedia). In the Chakra system, different colours and places on the body indicate each part of the person: for example, the root chakra (red or black crystals) helps with your basic needs, place and belonging, and is important to feel grounded. It is located at the base of the spine.

Crystals can be placed on specific parts of the body, around a person's living space, or worn as jewelry. They may also be used during meditation or placed in water that is consumed (please make sure the crystals are not water-soluble or toxic. Some stones, like malachite, have a lot of copper, which could be dangerous to ingest. The practitioner may focus on intentions and visualize the desired outcome during the treatment.

If you're interested in exploring crystal therapy, consider it as a complementary practice to conventional medical treatments. Always consult with healthcare professionals for any health concerns, and remember that individual experiences with alternative therapies can vary widely.
