Celebrate all things natural this National Reflexology Day!

May 28th celebrates a great thing-reflexology!

This healing modality is fantastic for so many reasons: you can treat the entire body on the soles of the feet, the hand, the face or the ears! It's very portable-you just need your hands to be available. There is no need to remove clothing (except for socks).

Reflexology is based on the meridians and acupuncture - ancient medicine systems that have stood the test of time. Each point represents a different part of the body. So, for example, you can help someone suffering from a headache by using points on the bog toe-no need to even touch the head, which might be too sensitive for the person experiencing the headache.

As with many other holistic modalities, prevention is key. Regular reflexology sessions keep the body in a state of wellness by attending to the whole body.

It is also fantastic when combined with other practices like aromatherapy and Reiki. Reiki lends an energetic aspect to the treatment. Aromatherapy can be used to add more relaxation or to treat a certain ailment. For example, lavender, chamomile or vetiver can increase calm and peace. Lavender or peppermint can assist with the example of the headache.

Keep your feet...and the rest of you happy every day!

N.B. please check with your healthcare professional if you have an underlying condition or are pregnant. Essential oils should always be used diluted.
