    Reiki

    Reiki is a form of alternative healing that originated in Japan. The word "Reiki" is derived from two Japanese words: "rei" meaning universal or higher power, and "ki" meaning life force energy. It is based on the belief that a life force energy flows through all living beings and that disruptions or imbalances in this energy can lead to physical, emotional, or spiritual ailments.

     

    During a Reiki session, a practitioner uses their hands to channel this universal life force energy to the recipient. The practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above different parts of the recipient's body, focusing on areas where the energy flow may be blocked or stagnant. The energy is believed to flow through the practitioner's hands and into the recipient, promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and healing.

     

    Here are some potential benefits of Reiki, as reported by its practitioners and recipients:

     

    • Stress reduction: Reiki is known to induce deep relaxation and promote a sense of calm, which can help reduce stress and anxiety.

    • Accelerated healing: Reiki is thought to accelerate the body's natural healing processes, making it useful for recovery from illness, injury, or surgery.
    • Complementary therapy: Reiki can be used alongside conventional medical treatments or other alternative therapies to support the healing process.
